This course will open for Jan-Mar 2024. Chromosome rearrangement and mutagenesis play a critical role in our immune response including antibody production. Interestingly, however, both prokaryote and eukaryote microorganisms use chromosome rearrangement and mutagenesis to escape from immune response or acquire drug resistance. In this critical reading course we will read several papers and discuss about the link of DNA replication and repair to pathogen/host interaction. We will also discuss similarities between cancer cells and pathogenic microorganisms. This relatively advanced course will use a journal club format consisting of student presentation for discussion.
